Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 1 June 2025 | Last Updated: 12 June 2026
OVERVIEW
Progressive Bytes ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Checkomat mobile application and the companion website at www.progressive-bytes.com/checkomat/gb/ (collectively, the "Service").
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service. We are committed to protecting your privacy through Privacy by Design.
LEGAL BASIS FOR DATA PROCESSING (GDPR)
If you are based in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, our legal basis for "processing" your data (which occurs exclusively locally on your device) is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR / UK GDPR: Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract (providing the checklist functionality you requested).
For website server logs, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / UK GDPR: Legitimate interests in operating a functioning, secure website.
THE APP — INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We do not collect any personal information.
Checkomat is designed to work entirely on your device without requiring any personal data collection. Your checklists, items, settings, and preferences belong to you alone.
Data Stored Locally:
- Checklist Data: All checklists, items, and related data you create are stored locally on your device.
- App Preferences: Settings and preferences are stored locally on your device.
Optional iCloud Sync:
Checkomat offers optional iCloud synchronisation, which is disabled by default. You can enable it in Settings > Preferences > iCloud. If you choose to enable iCloud sync:
- Your checklist data is synced via your personal, private iCloud container — only you can access it.
- Data is processed by Apple under their Privacy Policy.
- We do not have access to your iCloud data at any point.
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time within the same settings screen. Data already stored in iCloud will not be affected when you disable iCloud sync in the app.
THE WEBSITE — INFORMATION WE COLLECT
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. We do not use cookies, trackers, or analytics. We do not collect any personal information from visitors.
As with any web server, GitHub Pages automatically records basic server logs when you visit this site. These logs may include your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the date and time of your visit. This data is retained by GitHub in accordance with their Privacy Statement. We do not have access to individual visitor logs and do not use this data for tracking or profiling.
DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We do not share, sell, or analyse your data.
Because all app data remains on your device (or in your personal, private iCloud container) and we do not collect personal information, no data is shared with third parties, advertisers, or analytics providers.
DATA SECURITY & RETENTION
Your checklist data is stored securely on your device using standard iOS, iPadOS, and macOS security measures. Data remains on your device until you delete the app or manually remove the content. If iCloud sync is enabled, your data is additionally protected by Apple's iCloud security architecture.
YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Under data protection laws, you have rights including access, rectification, and erasure. Since we have no access to your data, you can exercise these rights directly yourself:
- Right to Access/Portability: You can view all your data directly within the app.
- Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can delete individual items or the entire app to wipe all data permanently. If iCloud sync is enabled, disabling it and deleting the app will remove all local data.
- Right to Object: You can halt all data processing at any time by simply closing or deleting the app.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Checkomat does not integrate with any custom third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics SDKs. However, because the app is distributed via Apple’s App Store, the following native services apply:
- Optional iCloud Sync: Used exclusively if you explicitly enable it to synchronise your data across your own devices. This data is handled entirely via your personal, private iCloud container under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- App Store Telemetry: Apple may share anonymised, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics with us if you have authorised Apple to share this information with developers in your device's privacy settings. This data cannot be used by us to identify individual users.
SUMMARY
Checkomat is a privacy-first app. Your data stays on your device and under your complete control.
We do not collect, store, or share any personal information. Optional iCloud sync uses only your personal, private iCloud container — only you can access it.
