OVERVIEW

Progressive Bytes ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Comment Reflow macOS application (consisting of a host app and an Xcode Source Editor Extension, together the "app") and the companion website at www.progressive-bytes.com/commentreflow/ (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy applies to both the app and the website.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service. We are committed to protecting your privacy through Privacy by Design.

LEGAL BASIS FOR DATA PROCESSING (GDPR)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for "processing" your data (which occurs only locally on your Mac) is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract (providing the comment-reflowing functionality you requested).

For website server logs, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: Legitimate interests in operating a functioning, secure website.

THE APP — INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We do not collect any personal information.

The host app lets you configure Comment Reflow and guides you through enabling the extension. The extension runs inside Xcode and reflows comments when you run a command from Xcode's Editor menu or a keyboard shortcut. The host app contains a single link that opens your default mail app so you can contact us; the app itself does not send or receive any data.

Comment Reflow is designed to work entirely on your Mac without requiring any personal data collection, an account, or a server. There is no sync of any kind, including iCloud — your data never leaves your Mac. Neither the host app nor the extension sends any data to any server. Your source code and app settings are yours alone.

Data Processed and Stored Locally:

• Source Code: When you run a command, Xcode passes the text of the current source file to the extension, which reflows the affected comments in memory and hands the result back to Xcode. Your source code is not stored, copied, or transmitted by Comment Reflow.
• App Settings: All app settings (such as your configured line width) are stored locally on your Mac.

THE WEBSITE — INFORMATION WE COLLECT

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages and consists of a handful of static HTML pages and stylesheets — there is no database, no server-side code, and no user accounts of any kind. We do not operate a server of our own and do not keep any logs. We do not use cookies, trackers, or analytics. We do not collect any personal information from visitors.

As with any web server, GitHub Pages automatically records basic server logs when you visit this site. These logs may include your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the date and time of your visit. This data is retained by GitHub in accordance with their Privacy Statement. We do not have access to individual visitor logs and do not use this data for tracking or profiling.

DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not share, sell, or analyze your data.

Because all app data remains on your Mac and we do not collect personal information, no data is shared with third parties, advertisers, or analytics providers.

DATA SECURITY & RETENTION

Your app settings are stored securely on your Mac using standard macOS security measures, including the App Sandbox. Your source code is processed only in memory and is not retained. Data remains on your Mac until you delete the app or manually remove the content.

YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, you have rights including access, rectification, and erasure. Since we do not have access to your data, you exercise these rights directly:

• Right to Access/Portability: You can view all your settings within the app. Your source code remains in your own files.
• Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can delete the app to remove all of its data permanently.
• Right to Object: You can stop all data processing by simply disabling the extension in System Settings or deleting the app.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Comment Reflow does not integrate with any custom third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics SDKs, and does not use iCloud or any other sync service. However, because the app is distributed via Apple's Mac App Store and the website is hosted on GitHub Pages, the following third-party services apply:

• App Store Telemetry: Apple may share anonymized, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics with us if you have permitted Apple to share this information with developers in your Mac's privacy settings. This data cannot be used by us to identify individual users.
• GitHub Pages: The website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may record basic server logs as described under "The Website — Information We Collect" above. The app itself does not communicate with GitHub.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Comment Reflow is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region). Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, regardless of age, no data about children is collected, stored, or transmitted.

DISCLAIMER — PROVIDED "AS IS"

Comment Reflow is a source code editing tool provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Comment Reflow changes the text of your source files at your request. You are responsible for reviewing the results, and we recommend using version control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Progressive Bytes shall not be liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the app, or for any loss or damage, including unintended changes to your source code, resulting from your use of the app.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Since the app does not collect contact information, we are unable to notify you directly of changes — we encourage you to review this page periodically.

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in answering inquiries) and do not share it with third parties. We delete it when it is no longer needed.

Under the GDPR, the data controller is Progressive Bytes (Nils Anspach, Emsdettener Str. 10, 48268 Greven, Germany).

You also have the right to complain to a Data Protection Authority if you believe your rights have been violated.
